Your voice needs to be heard! I mean that literally. Everyone has an opinion and a right to that opinion. Although, it may not be practical or it may not work to the satisfaction of others…it’s ok because opinions are like noses (everybody has one). I was the type of kid that always had questions. Why to this and why to that. Now I’m the adult that always has answers and an opinion.
What I’ve learned is that some people don’t like for you to have an answer to every question or scenario. I don’t know if it intimidates them, if it makes them feel that you’re being a wise-guy or if it’s something that they feel shouldn’t be possible. I make no apologies about being a thinker. I developed my analytical and somewhat technical way of understanding and make of sense of things by becoming the type of person that could be still and figure things out.
That’s my voice, that’s part of the way that I express myself. My voice evolved because I am a thinker and I think if you slow down and analyze yourself you will find your attributes also. There are so many benefits of just being still. Since I’ve found my voice I’ve become a national trainer, speaker and author.
I guess my point is that the thinker developed a voice and it has begun to serve me. What serves you? I’d like to encourage you once again to go out on a limb and challenge yourself. It’s better to bring your best out now versus 10 or 20 years from now. Nobody wants to look back and realize that they’ve become their own worst enemy. It’s bad enough that we sabotage ourselves enough in life.
As a speaker I get a chance to tell my story, live my story and be my story literally! Each platform gives me an opportunity to serve my client and myself! Learn how you can find your voice also. I think the best thing you can do for yourself (regardless of industry) is to know what you excel at and nail it! Public speaking is an excellent way to re-enforce your leadership skill. If you are a good communicator it will be a huge advantage for you while discovering your voice!
There is another way to find your voice! Writing…everybody has a story (not that everyone needs to be an author). I say it a lot, there’s always someone waiting to hear your story the way you tell it. I understand that many people have flirted with the idea of writing a book. I say excellent, but those same people don’t know how to write it and they don’t know what’s required to write a book.
Fortunately, I have lots of experience when it comes to public speaking and becoming an author:
