That’s right, it’s for you so stop fooling around and trying to be the gracious one. Wanting something badly in many cases may be selfish when you’re the sole beneficiary, but it’s not so bad when that thing is the very thing that fuels your soul and it provides a benefit to other people. So, don’t feel guilty and don’t make excuses about it.
Striving for your success is honorable and you’ll find celebrities and many others have a heart felt story about why and how they work so hard to achieve their goal. The only disconnect is that people are not comfortable with simply stating that it’s something that they want, and they want all of the benefits that come along with it…a contingent result is that other people can benefit also.
I do not promote being selfish, but I do promote honesty. The WHY of a thing is usually used as an anchor to keep you on board and keep you focused on your goal(s). If that’s what you’ve got to do…DO IT! However, the next time you’re asked to speak or receive an award…try a bit of transparency. (Complete transparency if possible)
In the big scheme of things it may not matter if you hit the goal, but there are thousands if not millions of people in pain in today’s society just holding out and praying for the next big thing and what are many entrepreneurs and corporate moguls doing…they’re selling a pipe dream.
It will never go away completely, but ask yourself is it needed? Is it necessary? There’s a saying that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Meanwhile, half of the world is touchy feely and the other half is cold hearted. The cold hearted seem to be financial fit and they seem to have a corner on the business market dangling carrots in front of loddy, doddy and everybody that has a need that is not met.
Don’t join them. Learn how you can be the best version of yourself by being authentic. Be transparent and sleep good at night knowing that you’ve done all that you can do to fulfill your dreams and destiny and you where honest in the process. You didn’t mislead anyone, you didn’t take advantage of a soul.
The truth of the matter, when it’s all said and done you should feel good about your journey. What got you there has positioned you to tell live the life that you hopefully have wanted. So the next time your asked to tell your story or receive an award…stand tall and proud, because you’re not kidding anyone…it was for you and you helped other people in the process.
