Making a way out of no way!
Your story is so unique. In so many ways we think that our thoughts and experiences are unlike other peoples. The truth of the matter is that’s just not so. Human beings spend so much time in their heads based on unconfirmed thoughts. I’m speaking of truths and un-truths. Things like vanity, insecurity, fear, incompetence and many others thoughts and emotions.
On the positive side, it’s comforting to know that your thoughts, your story…may actually benefit someone else. I’ve said on many occasions that I can tell your story and I might do a pretty good job. The truth of the matter is…there is always someone waiting to hear your story the way you tell it. I could be the best story teller in the world, but your story is not my truth.
Let’s face it. Everyone may not need to write a book, but everyone can tell their story. That is one of the benefits of public speaking and if your story should be told to a larger audience…that’s a benefit to writing a book. I believe it was Dr. Myles Munroe that said the graveyard was one of the richest places on the planet.
Dr. Munroe had a point when you consider all of the stories never written and all of the stories never told…in any fashion. I thought about his statement and I took it a step further…the truth is not only were there stories never told or written, but there were copyrights never made, patents never made, inventions never created and simply ideas never expanded upon.
That story about the fact that most people will only use about 10% of their brains capacity in their lifetime still amazes me! It just seems like a waste of life that a human being would spend up to 60 some odd years on this planet sucking up all of the air they can and using up all of the space that they can and only use 10%…that should probably be illegal.
So I encourage all that read this post and all that hear me at conferences and breakout sessions…tell your story! Learn how to become a better communicator.
