Making a way out of no way!
One of all time favorite bands is Earth, Wind & Fire. You see there are quartets, quintets, soloist and groups…Earth, Wind & Fire was a band! They could all play various instruments, sing and great stage shows. Those were my dudes! I learned how to transition from natural to falsetto flawlessly, I learned song structure and stage presence from these guys.
They were my mentors. It was either them or the Jacksons aka The Jackson 5! So what does all of this have to do with Song Titles & Motivation…? Well one of my favorite EWF songs is “I Write A Song” I was in another world when I heard that song. I also realize many years later that the song we write is our song.
It can be a song of love, a song of lesson or even a song of business. The song is the message and the story. We can write our own song with or without help these days. The worst thing you can do is exist day after day and then expire or have someone speak to what they think you were about!
Make it definitive…what are you about? What do you do? What will you do? Don’t wait for the answers…just go out and conquer it! Never settle for the status quo…write your song. I thirst but never quench…I know the consequence, feeling as I do….
Every aspect of our lives create the narrative. We need the good, the bad and the ugly to complete the story. All of the parts make the whole possible. So with that said, Earth, Wind & Fire, thanks for the motivation and the early life lessons!
