How much money will it take before you can be considered successful? How far up the ladder do you need to go on your job before you can be considered a success? Is the United States successful because of a particular feat that it has been said to accomplish?
The question about success must be measurable. Everyone will not have a celebrities level of success. By that I mean that whatever you do will not necessarily be so important or so interesting that newspapers and radio will be interested in your feat. The way many of us grew up as children, we used the medias measuring stick to determine our own self worth.
Many people have lived and died based upon that measuring stick. I’m here to tell you that the measuring is not only very real, but it’s not a stand alone criteria. Money speaks very loud when you make a lot of it or when you create something that generates a lot of revenue. Status is very noticeable when you rise to fame from your work in a particular industry or when you rise to a certain level of notoriety because of your creation.
All of the aforementioned scenarios are considered success. What many of us worldwide don’t seem to realize is that some of our personal experiences are equally important and also successes. When you graduate high school or college (ding success!), when you get a promotion or start your own business (ding success!), when you overcome substance abuse or when you are healed from a disease (ding success!).
Your success may not be as romantic or sensational from a global perspective, but from a personal perspective…trust me it is equally important! We have to learn how to change our perspective on what success is. The old version, vision and outlook of success must change in order for us to become FREE and to feel happy, independent and one with the universe. We all will not be Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, but there is still enough wealth and there are enough plateaus for all of us to stand on.
Remember we are usually our own worst enemy and maybe that can be a good thing. Why, you may ask…well, so that we stay in the fight and remember we can always aspire for more!
