We’ve all heard the commentary / conversation about the difference between the journey and the destination. Many of us including me are striving for this particular level of success in life! For some of us it’s about money, for others it can be about status. I’d like to think that although both are fair game (money and or status), there can be a more meaningful reason on how we engage or experience the journey.
I’m talking about my good old friend purpose! You see purpose will allow you to excel or repel various aspects of life including money or status. As a professional trainer and speaker I understand that of course I must and should be paid for my services…the deeper meaning of it all is purpose.
If you enjoy the career or business that you have that’s great. If you don’t enjoy it, I hope you’re open to discovering your sweet-spot!
Each of us has one, but not all recognize it. Assuming that you do recognize it, you can then agree with
me that the joy, the feeling, the experience you have nearly each time you’re able to share your gift while in your sweet-spot
is second to none.
I appreciate the experiences that the journey offers…the opportunities to learn and the opportunities to succeed. The older I get I’m learning how to appreciate the less interesting or less glamorous aspects of the journey also. The failures, which none of us want share their own reward. That reward leads to experience and wisdom and the ultimate reason why the proverbial saying (it’s not about the destination, but it’s about the journey) holds so much truth and impact!
If I could have had my way when I was younger…I would have cashed all of my chips in for the destination. Now that I’m much older I know that would have led to a lifetime of emptiness. So how do you see it? Is the glass half full or half empty, is it about the journey or the destination?
We’re all wired differently and our learning, growth and maturity settles in when it’s supposed to depending on who we are. So my friends I say to those of us that are journeymen or those of us with a bit of wisdom to offer…let’s continue in the attempt to empower others and to appreciate the sweet smell of life’s flowers.
